MUSC Intramural Programs

Methacton United’s Intramural program’s goal is to develop an interest in soccer, introduce basic soccer skills and have fun! We emphasize skill development, sportsmanship and teamwork in a cooperative, safe environment. At the younger ages, the emphasis is on having fun, learning the basics of the game and getting all players involved in the game. We offer intramural programs for children of all ages.

For children ages 4-5. Our Pee-Wee program is setup as a clinic. Children are placed in groups within 6 month range. The clinic is led by the Major League Soccer’s Red Bulls New York professional coaching staff. The focus is to teach the children introductory skills of soccer, teamwork, and listening in a friendly and playful setting. Clinics run for an hour on Saturdays. All participants are given a participation medal at the end of the season.

For children ages 6-9. Children are placed into age divisions in two year increments and by gender, U7 through U12, Practices are 1-2 nights a week, games are primarily on Sunday’s. A round Robin Tournament ends the season awarding medals and trophies to all participants.

For children ages 10-18. Players are formed into coed teams in U12, U14, U16 and U18 age groups. MUSC is a proud participant in the Suburban Counties Soccer League. For more detail on this age group please (Click HERE) Practice is 1-2 nights a week, games are held on Saturday home or away against surrounding area clubs. This is strictly recreational playing.

Age Determination

Division is determined by child age as of 7/31/2012.

Practices
Fall Intramural Practices will begin at the end of the August. Your coaches will be calling you with team details and information. Practices are for 1 hour during the week in the evenings and the coach chooses the night.

Games
Begin September 13 and end November 11

Coaches
Coaches are a vital aspect of our Club, and are generally volunteer parents. We provide pre-season coaches’ meetings and trainings as well as many handout materials to help guide them through their practices and games. All head coaches are required to register as a coach and fill out background check information, MUSC covers the cost of the background check. Those registered for head coach also receive a $20.00 Discount.

Equipment
MUSC provides the following as part of your Fall registration: Shorts, Shirt, Socks, Ball.

All players must wear shin guards which are mandatory. They should bring a soccer ball and water bottle to practices and games. Cleats or sneakers are appropriate for U8 and younger; cleats are recommended for U9 and above.

Program Cost & Discounts

Fall registration is $125.00.

Early Discount: $15.00 if registered before July 20, 2011

Multi Child Discount: $25.00 off 2nd child registered. MUST be registered at the same time.

Coach Discount: Receive $20.00 off registration if you register to coach child’s team

Fund Raising

MUSC does limited fund raising in the fall. With each registration you will receive $25.00 in raffle tickets (the $25 is included in the registration fee). You can either resell these tickets or keep them for yourselves. Nothing is required to be returned since we track the division/team it was issued to. Raffle will take place during our monthly membership meeting in October 2012, winning ticket numbers will be posted on the website and team issued winning number will be notified.
