May 2017 -- The Methacton United Blue Crush 2006 (U11) Girls entered the group stage of the Turkey Hill Challenge Cup against Harleysville Rangers, Lebco Freedom and FC Providence Wildcats. In the next game, the Crush faced the athletic Lebco Freedom. After dominating possession in the 1st half, the Crush could only muster a 1-0 lead. In the 2nd half, the Crush withstood multiple counter attacks by an energized Freedom team and scored 2 more goals leading to a 3-0 win.

In the 2nd half, the Crush’s unselfish play led to goals by 4 different players, leading to a 6-2 win.
In the quarterfinals against YMS Freedom, both teams played an evenly matched game with YMS scoring the only goal in the 1st half. The Crush responded in the 2nd half with the tying goal leading to a 1-1 score at the end of regulation. Both teams battled hard in the extra time, with the Crush scoring the game winning goal with only minutes left in the 2nd overtime and securing a spot in semifinals against Lighthouse Crunch. The semi final game mirrored a previous game with Lighthouse which led to a West Chester tournament victory on PKs last summer. The game began with Lighthouse taking the lead in the 1st half and the Blue Crush tying the game in the 2nd half. The game was tight throughout highlighted by excellent play from both goalies resulting in a 1-1 score at the end of regulation and two overtimes. The game again went to PKs, with Lighthouse prevailing this time. The girls showed composure throughout the tournament and it was a great way to end a successful 2016/2017 soccer season.
