Opportunities for New Players

The prospect of joining a travel team can be a daunting one for both parents and players, whether they are taking a step up from a recreational program or making the difficult decision to switch clubs.

Having lived through these decisions as parents, we recognize that, assuming the level is play is right, the two most important components in that decision are:

  1. The player's comfort with his/her new coach and teammates
  2. The parents' comfort with the new coach and other parents

In addition to the typical questions parents ask about a travel program, Methacton United offers a number of ways for potential new players to become more familiar with our coaches, players, and training staff.

  • Winter and Spring Academy

Every winter and spring, our professional training staff offers an affordable training program for current and prospective travel players. The curriculum continues the progression of skills and tactics that were taught through the summer, fall, and winter. These sessions offer the opportunity to train alongside potential new teammates with the same professional staff that will guide your player's development throughout the season. Sessions begin in January and run through the end of May.
  • Spring Travel Leagues

All of our travel teams play in a spring league, typically with loose rosters and guest players, either from other teams in the club or prospective players trying out a new team. Spring leagues present an excellent opportunity for new or interested players to play a game (or a season) and learn about new teammates, a new coach, and new parents to cheer them on.
  • Team Training Sessions

Most of our travel teams will conduct their own training sessions at various times throughout the spring.

Players interested in participating in the winter or spring training sessions can register using the registration link in the top navigation menu of this web page or at https://methactonunited.demosphere-secure.com/_registration.

Players interested in playing with a particular team in the spring or attending a team's training sessions should contact the head coach directly.
